And the final winners are...
Our hosts have decided, and we are proud to announce the final winners of our competition and would like to congratulate them for coming first and winning 1,111€ prize money.
In the area of fashion design, the designer myconfashion was able to convince our host, Candy Kern, and us with her idea of the „Must-Have-Garment“of the summer 2008. It was not easy to make a final decision, but her draft „change for change“had the most potential and was simply the best. The outstanding features of myconfashion´s draft were that her garments were changeable and wearable in versatile styles.
The second place went to the designer Natali and her draft „natali 3“, and place three went to VictorKowalski.
Designer Objectophil and his draft "ILLUMINAT" came first in the area of product design. Along with host Marcus Kuchler, we had to face the difficult task of deciding on a final winner, which was not easy with the many creative drafts that was sent to us. Marcus stated the reasons for his decision in an interview and said: „The winner draft accords to the modern trend of simplicity, but features a hint of retro at the same time. The lamp picks up a current theme, includes the brand apple in its design and offers clearly understandable features. “
Designer Kathrin came
second and Burner came third in our competition area of product design.
We would like to congratulate to all our winners and thank you all for
joining the competition!
Also important: Our weekly winners of fashion design 7 and 8
The competition is over and the final winners announced, but we don´t want to forget to mention the weekly winners of week 7 and 8. In week 7 the designer myconfashion won the weekly competition and also came first as final winner in the end. In week 8 the draft of Natali titled „natali 3“ was able to convince Candy Kern with its eccentric design and made it to the weekly winner and came second in the end.
In an interview Candy explained to us, why she decided the way she did and what she thinks about the competition:
Candy Kern Interview
Criggle: What made the draft of myconfashion so unique in your eyes?
First of all I must say that I liked all drafts of this designer, because she placed her models into scenes. She presented adequate garments with the matching background that looks far more interesting than just an ordinary white background. Her illustrations were really creative and designed with an eye for detail. The models of the designer are changeable and versatile. Her draft „change for change“ is not only made from eco-friendly materials, but also wearable on many different occasions. Also the colour is tastefully chosen, everything is just right in this draft.
Criggle: Why would you especially
buy this dress for the summer of 2008?
The reason is already given in the description of the designer: climate
protection is a big trend at the moment and a dress made from natural,
eco-friendly and fair-traded materials will convince conscious customers.
On the one hand you can wear the designer´s garment as elegant pantsuit,
on the other hand you are able to wear it as a city dress on hot summer
days. The airiness of the cut makes it very breathable and comfortable
to wear.
Criggle: What do you like about
the drafts of Natali and ViktorKowalski and what is missing to become
number 1?
Designer ViktorKowalski´s idea of the elegant evening gown that is
convertible into a babydoll is quite clever. However, both garments
are rather designed as evening dresses and therefore not as flexible
as my number one.
I like Natali´s draft, which represents a successful mix between sexy
and casual. The dress has an eccentric design and is breathable for
hot summer days. I miss that extra detail that would make this dress
special as myconfashions garment. Myconfashion is able to gain extra
points for her aspect of climate protection.
Criggle: How did you like the quality of the submissions?
Everything considered we had various drafts from many designers
with huge differences with regard to the quality. All drafts had their
own charm and some had a big potential. Anyhow, there were only three
places for the final winners within the competition and those went to
the best three drafts, although it was not an easy choice for me to
make. I was pleased with all the diversity and creativeness that dominated
the contest.
Criggle: How did you like the competition overall?
I liked the idea of the contest; I think it motivates young designers
to hand in their first drafts officially and to compete with others.
It is a chance for designers and students to get their work evaluated
by other persons than just university professors. It was an interesting
task for me to review all those different ideas and to compare them
with each other. I had fun and wish all the best and good luck to all
Crigglers!
